Wikipedia-based Search Engine launched
by Searchme
A consumer-level meta search engine that displays Wikipedia results
above normal Web search results was released today by Searchme.
According to their site (www.wikiseek.com), "The contents
of Wikiseek are restricted to Wikipedia pages and only those sites
which are referenced within Wikipedia, making it an authoritative
source of information less subject to spam and SEO schemes.
Wikiseek utilizes Searchme's category refinement technology,
providing suggested search refinements based on user tagging and
categorization within Wikipedia, making results more relevant
than conventional search engines."
Text link advertising is displayed along the right-hand side
and an undisclosed majority of the advertising proceeds will go
to the Wikimedia Foundation.
Though still in beta, Wikiseek is continueally being updated
based on user suggestions and new Wikipedia content.
