A closer look at Yahoo's Local business directory listing options

While Yahoo no longer powers its own organic search results, Yahoo has retained control of its Local business directory. Businesses can choose between two local listings: Yahoo Local Basic and Yahoo Local Enhanced business listings.

Yahoo Local Basic business listing is a free local listing that provides business owners with the option of having a rudimentary local listing at no cost. Basic Yahoo local business listings include address, phone number, web site URL, products services, brands and associations.

Yahoo Enhanced Local listings cost $9.95/month and allow businesses to include additional information on top of what's provided with a Basic local business listing. This includes a company tag line, logo, up to ten photos, and a detailed company description consisting of up to 3,000 characters of searchable information. Coupon/promotion links are also an option with Enhanced listings allowing local business to have two textual links displayed in Local Search results and on the Local Business Details page.

Up to five categories can be selected with either a Yahoo Basic or Yahoo Enhanced local listing.
